Plot

Based on a popular internet novel by Yoshi, Last Love marks veteran actor Tamura Masakazu’s first feature film in 14 years. Though Tamura made quite a few films in the 1960s and 70s, in the ensuing three decades he concentrated his career in television and drama, with popular detective drama Furuhata Ninzaburo being his most iconic work. Gracing the big screen for the first time since 1993’s Kozure Ôkami: Sono Chîsaki te ni, Tamura stars as a man who finds love and self late in life in this quietly stirring work from director Fujita Akiji (Adiantum Blue). Set in New York and Japan, the film co-stars Ito Misaki from the drama Densha Otoko.

After his wife’s death, renowned saxophonist Akira (Tamura Masakazu) decides to give up music. When his wife was alive, he was intent on pursuing his dreams and had little time for family. Now he lives a quiet life, devoting his time to his daughter. One day he meets a young woman (Ito Misaki) who brings great changes into his life.
